Goodish day

Woo Hoo! I did another day of exercise. I go to the gym right after work now. I really enjoy going in the morning and feel good all day long when I do but the issue is preparation. It is a pain in the butt to get all my stuff ready for work. I joined the gym I did because it is close to my job and they were supposed to be opening one up by my house.

However, until they do open the one by my house I have to go to the one by my job. When I go in the morning I have to get all my work clothes together as well as all my toiletries to shower for work. It really is a pain but at times I don't mind doing it......on the days I can wear something casual. lol

Anyway, when I go to the gym after work I get caught up in some show on the tv connected to the elliptical machine. So I end up staying on the machine anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. I am glad though because I workout longer than I would if I listened to music. I do try to stay way from the food network. lol I am still trying to figure out if the machine calorie count is correct or if Sparkpeople calorie count is correct. The machine says I burn 500 calories and Sparkpeople says I burn 1000. Hmmmm I like thinking Sparkpeople is the right calorie count. :)

It is a new day and on to new adventures.

It's Monday again

Back to the grind after the weekend. I tried to be as good as possible over the weekend but it was hard at times with dinner parties and a baptism. The weekends are probably the hardest for most people, me included. There are so many things going on you don't think about what you eat. I also have the tendency to think weekends are free passes. I feel if I can keep things in perspective I can do well.

I am a true believer in moderation. I believe if you eat in moderation and within a certain caloric count you can eat what you want and still enjoy the foods you like. I got to eat cake and pasta and other things but just in small doses.....okay yesterday's piece of cake wasn't so small. lol

Last week I only went to the gym twice so this week I am determined to get there three times. I have my clothes ready to go after work today. Monday's are always the worst because everyone wants to go to make up for what they did over the weekend.....I guess me included.

But the good news of it all, I shed 2 pounds last week so I am happy. I don't need to lose 10 pounds the first week back. I am doing this for life so slow and steady wins the race in my book. :)

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Skipped a blog

Well, I skipped a day of blogging but I did not skip a day of eating right and exercise (Tuesday). I kept within my calories and I worked out for over an hour. I never made it in the morning but I did go after work. I had to hightail it right out of work so I would beat the rush. You know, all those people who make new year's resolutions to exercise more. I give them a month or so before they start fading out. I got there at 5 and it was pretty empty. By the time I left at 6 pm it was crazy busy. I really prefer going in the morning but I haven't been able to wake up in time. I think I am coming down with another cold so sleeping in feels better.

Wednesday was not such an excellent day in the eating....well not until I ate dinner. I went to Red Lobster with Keven. They don't have much on their menu that is low fat. You'd think "it's a seafood restaurant." But all there food is either fried or broiled. Broiled sounded good to me until the shrimp and scallops came in a small porcelain hot tub of butter. Of course, there are those delectable little morsels.... cheddar biscuits. Oh good Lord....how does one resist those things? I ate two!!! Also, they have the best coleslaw in the world. I think I might have passed on the biscuits for another bowl of coleslaw. :)

I did have something good happen though. I had to order some pants since I don't have any that fit and I needed some that do. I ordered two pair of pants last week (since the store does not carry tall anymore) in a size I thought I was. They came in Tuesday, and I wore a pair yesterday. I thought they fit fine until the end of the day when they stretched out. I order more since they were 50% off and I had a coupon for another 25% off. The best part is I got to order the next size down! Woo Hoo!!! I didn't think I could wear that size pant yet but I can. Small milestones are all it takes because all the small ones will add up to be a huge one in the end!!!

So, no more Red Lobster dinners.....at least not for a while. Back to the grind today and back to the gym I go....hi ho!

New 'old' beginning off to a good start

Well first day back at it and so far so good. I kept within my caloric intake. I actually kept it quite close to 1500. I logged in all my food. I drank all my water. Now it is the time to get back into exercising. I did weigh myself this morning and have only gained 2 pounds since September. I think that is pretty darn good since I just went through the biggest eating holidays of all time (Thanksgiving and Christmas). I even made sure I cooked dinner so as not to eat out. I made chicken fried rice. It is not as fattening as you'd think if you make it yourself.

A couple of weeks ago, I found a pair of pants in my closet that I forgot I had stored in my sweater bin. I tried them on and they were a tad tight. I figured 5 more pounds and I could fit into them perfectly. I don't have many pants that fit well. I keep wearing my big pants because I am waiting to lose the weight I want before I buy more. Why buy more now if I am only going to have to buy more later? What....er ......wait.....that doesn't sound like a bad idea. That means I can shop. lol

So, today is my first day back in the gym. I know it is going to suck the few days after but I will work through it. I told myself I have to be at the gym by 6 a.m. I will work out for at least an hour then it will be off to work. It is a production for me to go to the gym in the mornings since I have to make sure I have all my clothes and make up for work. It is all worth it for the final results.

So, my first mini goal is to fit in those pants. I hope I can do that within the next couple of weeks. My next small goal is to lose at least 15 pounds by the time I leave for Mardi Gras in March. I think I can do it.......I think I can.....I think I can.....I KNOW I can.....I KNOW I CAN!!!!

Happy Tuesday!

New Year new attitude

Just like everyone else in the world I am getting back at my old 'new' life style. I am going back to eating in moderation and working out. Since my last blog I have joined a gym. I love it. I try to go in the mornings so I have energy all day long.

Some of the new changes are going to be to stop eating out as much. I have been eating out way too much. I love to cook and need to go back to cooking my meals. I need to get back to eating in moderation. I haven't done too bad over the holidays but I could have done so much better.

I will be keeping my calories less than 2000. I want to keep it closer to 1500 but will shoot for 1800 right now. Keep the fat count down. I will eat more fiber and less fat (kind of like weight watchers program).

My goal this week is to go to the gym on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Three days is going to be my minimum and then I am going to work it up to 4 days. If I make it to the gym 4 days then it will be a bonus and I will reward myself with something.....like a piece of clothing or something. lol

So, my renewed goals are 1,500 - 2,000 calories a day and going to the gym 3 times this week. Of course on gym days I will eat closer to the 2,000 calories.

2011 is going to be the year of shedding another 40 pounds and then I will have met my goal.
